Dr. Mary Armanios, MD, holds the position of Director of the Telomere Center at Johns Hopkins and Associate Director of Cancer Research Career Enhancement at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, is also a professor in genetic medicine, molecular biology, genetics, and pathology. Her work focuses on telomere dysfunction disorders, aiming to advance surveillance, diagnosis, and treatment methods. These disorders, often linked to increased cancer risk, include conditions like myelodysplastic syndromes and myeloid leukemia.
Leading the Telomere Clinic at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Armanios provides multidisciplinary care for patients with telomere-related disorders, ranging from various cancers to lung diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Her team, including geneticists, genetic counselors, and experts in hematology and organ transplant medicine, specializes in personalized care for these complex disorders.
