About the event
Dr. Sharon Savage, MD, holds the position as Director of clinical Genetics Branch (CGB) at Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG), National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Clinical Director for DCEG, NCI. She is a board-certified expert in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, she's an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Her accolades include the NIH Director's Award in 2022 and recognition from UVM Larner College of Medicine and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. Savage leads critical studies in cancer genetics and epidemiology, focusing on high-risk individuals and families. Her work blends genomics with clinical genetics and molecular biology to deepen understanding of cancer etiology. She's notably contributed to Telomere Molecular Epidemiology, examining the relationship between telomere biology and cancer risk. Recently, she initiated a study on Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) to explore its clinical and molecular consequences and develop a screening program for TP53 mutation carriers, alongside contributing to an international LFS research consortium.
